Talavera is famous for its ceramics, its Mondas, and its ferias,
but locals know it's also a city where you can eat really well. You don't need to go to
Madrid to find a restaurant with a thoughtful menu, a tapas bar with real history, or a
proper place for breakfast. It's all here, and most of it concentrated in one specific spot:
the historic old town.
The old town: the liveliest area to eat
Ask anyone from Talavera where to eat in the city, and most will point you toward the old
town. It's the area with the most character: narrow streets, squares with outdoor seating,
historic façades, and bars that have been raising their shutters every morning for
generations. Weekends get busy with people out for drinks or a meal; on weekdays it has the
relaxed rhythm of a charming neighborhood where everyone knows each other, the perfect base
for exploring the city on foot.
We opened in 2015 with the idea of running a classic neighborhood bar that was also a
proper restaurant, with every detail taken care of. Over time we've grown. We now have a bar area for a quick drink and a dining room for a relaxed meal, but the idea is still the same: real food, no pretense, made with ingredients you can
tell were chosen carefully.
Our tortilla de patatas (Spanish potato omelette) is, without exaggeration, one of the
reasons people cross the city to come here. And we run a market-driven menu that changes
with what's in season. We hold a Solete Repsol award, a recognition we care about because it
doesn't reward how good a place looks — it rewards good food.
We have a long bar built for settling in with a glass of wine and a good dish, and
comfortable tables and seating if you'd rather eat without rushing. On wine, we have a bit
of everything (young wines, crianzas, reservas, new projects, more traditional styles...),
and on beer, both the classics and craft options.
We've also always been an active part of Talavera's social life. We've hosted concerts,
exhibitions, wine and cheese tastings... In 2026 we started running
Thursdays at Casco Viejo, with a different plan every week: live music, tastings, special off-menu dishes, and
